U16B Shield Final

Sixmilebridge GAA: Broadford/Parteen 4-11 Clooney Quin 0-3

Broadford/Parteen met Clooney-Quin in Sixmilebridge in the U16  B Shield final on Wednesday evening.  Broadford/Parteen were slow to settle in the first half and despite numerous opportunities, sent the ball wide of the mark from play whilst meeting a strong Clooney-Quin defensive lineout.

However, once Broadford/Parteen found their stride the girls started to display the skill and determination shown in previous matches in the competition that had helped them reach this final.  With a goal from Aisling Cooney and points two points from Alexandra Troy and one from Sarah Hall Broadford/Parteen were in the lead 1-03 to 0-2 as the first half drew to a close.

From the start of the second half, Broadford/Parteen put their collective foot on the pedal to ramp up the pace of the match and powered ahead to clinch a convincing, all the while Clooney-Quin continuing fight for possession. With a goal's a piece from Naoise O'Sullivan, Sarah Hall and Beatrice Vaughan and points from Susan O'Shea, Aisling Cooney and Alexandra the match finally ended 4-11 to 0-3 points.

The final score was demonstrative of Broadford/Parteen's strength and commitment but does not take away from the valiant effort put in by there opponents.
