Clare 1-10 Limerick 0-7
Clares Minor camogie team had a good start to their All Ireland campaign when they recorded a six point victory over neighbours, Limerick, on Saturday, 17th February in Ballagran, Co. Limerick.
Six minutes of play had elapsed before the opening score of a point came from play from Clare’s Bridin Dinan. This was followed shortly by two consecutive points from Limerick’s Roisin Ambrose. Dinan added another point from a converted ‘45 followed soon afterwards by a further 2 points, 1 from a converted free and a further point from play. Clare’s Caoimhe Carmody was playing very well at mid field and scored a great point from play. Robyn Conway added another point to the Clare scoreboard shortly before half time. Limerick’s Anna Rose Kennedy answering with a point from play to leave the half time score Clare 0-6 Limerick 0-3.
In the second half Clare came out with all guns blazing and three minutes into the second half, Clares Aoife Power struck for the only goal of the match. Limerick’s Anna Rose Kennedy scored a point from play midway into the second half to keep the homesides scoreboard ticking over. Further points followed from Clare’s Bridin Dinan, Aoife Power and a brace from Caoimhe Carmody. Shortly before Carmody’s last point Limerick’s Ciara Barry got a red card leaving Limerick with 14 players to finish out the game. Michelle Meskell had a very impressive game in corner back. The closing score of the game came from Limerick’s Katie Heelan but was too late at this stage to change the final result. When the final whistle blew it was Clare who came out victorious with a final score of Clare 1-10 to Limerick 7 points.
