Junior A Championship Final @ Broadford GAA Saturday 23rd September 5pm
Whitegate 5-8 Tulla 3-10
Whitegate were crowned Junior A Champions on Saturday evening in Broadford having survived a second half comeback from a valiant Tulla outfit.
Playing with the aid of the wind in the first half, Whitegate raced into an early lead and with four first half goals to add to the five points scored, saw them go in at the break leading 4-5 to 0-3.
However the second half saw Tulla come back on the pitch with renewed vigour. A brace of points was followed by a green flag as the girls in claret and amber fought back. Further points and another green flag saw Whitegates lead further reduced as the players battled hard in difficult weather conditions. A third green flag for Tulla saw just a point separating the sides with three minutes of time remaining. However Whitegate upped the ante in the closing minutes and winning possession from the puckout bore down the field to grab their fifth green flag and secure victory on a final score of Whitegate 5-8 Tulla 3-10.
