Littlewoods Ireland Div 3 Camogie League
by Brid MacNamara
Clare 1-3 Dublin 1-10
The Clare Junior Camogie team were hosts to the Dublin Junior Camogie team on Sunday at Wolfe Tones Camogie Grounds.
This was Clares first game in Div 3 of the Littlewoods Camogie League. Dublin were table toppers coming to Shannon with wins over Roscommon and Tyrone. The game was played in dry conditions but there was a very strong cross wind which made scoring difficult with Dublin shooting 12 wides in the game.
Clare opened the scoring with a pointed free from Sinead Power, which was followed up with a superb goal from Lizzie Danagher to the corner of the net. Clare followed up with a point from play from Louise McDonald leaving Clare 1-2 with Dublin yet to open their scoring. Dublin registered their first point after 15 minutes and added a further 3 points in the first half. Right on the stroke of half time Dublin got their only goal from corner forward Laoise Quinn. This left the half time score Dublin 1-4 to Clare 1-2.
In the second half Dublin continued to stretch their lead adding a further 6 points to Clares only score,a free from Louise Browne. In the closing stages Clare were pressing hard for a goal but to no avail.
